COMO CENTRE REFURBISHMENT

Nestled in the heart of Melbourne, the Como Centre beckoned with untapped potential, awaiting a transformative redesign that would redefine its identity. This iconic landmark, steeped in history, was a canvas ready to be infused with fresh, innovative ideas. Our opportunity lay in breathing new life into the Como Centre, seamlessly blending its rich heritage with modern design concepts. From revitalizing its commercial spaces to creating inviting communal areas, this refurbishment project promised to reinvigorate the Centre, making it a dynamic destination where Melbourne's past and future converged. We embarked on shaping the Como Centre's next chapter, a testament to our commitment to both heritage and progress.

The design intent for the Como Center project was driven by a desire to evoke a profound sense of grandeur and luxury. The Team sought to achieve this by carefully selecting and incorporating sophisticated materials that would elevate the entire space. The star of the show was undoubtedly the luxurious travertine look porcelain tile, which served as the main tile feature, exuding timeless elegance and opulence without blowing the budget. To complement this, we introduced accents of bronze brass, adding warmth, richness, and a touch of glamour to the overall aesthetic.

Our approach to the design was decidedly minimalist, allowing us the freedom to meticulously craft and fine-tune every small design element. This deliberate simplicity provided us with the creative space to experiment and refine, ultimately resulting in a cohesive narrative that resonated with the project's stakeholders, including the Como Center directors. It was through this careful balance of materials, attention to detail, and the minimalist approach that we were able to breathe life into a design concept that exuded sophistication, luxury, and a seamless connection to the vision of the directors.

The Commercial project at Como Center in South Melbourne, Victoria, marked a significant undertaking encompassing the extensive refurbishment of multiple vital areas within the complex. My involvement in the Como Centre South Melbourne project introduced me to the realm of high-end commercial design. During pivotal client briefing meetings with the Como Center Board of Directors, I had the privilege of accompanying our Senior Designer and Studio Director. The project's overarching objective was clear: orchestrate a sophisticated upgrade that would establish a unified design intent harmonizing the entire facility.

As a member of the dedicated team, I actively participated in various stages of the project, starting with the development of the initial concept and progressing through proposed designs, detailed design development, and ultimately delivering the final design outcomes. My responsibilities spanned a wide spectrum of tasks, including the assembly of inspirational reference imagery, meticulous sourcing and refinement of choices for materials and finishes, and consistent attendance at client meetings across all phases of the design process.

Maintaining close engagement with the project's progress, I attended regular on-site meetings, ensuring that our design objectives were seamlessly translated into reality. The final stages of the project saw my continued involvement in making crucial design selections for materials, finishes, and furniture choices, as well as actively assisting in the procurement of furniture items. This multifaceted endeavor not only expanded my skill set but also exemplified our team's unwavering dedication to realizing the Como Center's vision as outlined in the initial project intention and direction.
